I would like your help in forming the North Carolina Wildlife Artist Society (NCWAS), a non-profit organization to bring together artists and collectors to preserve wildlife habitat and educate the public on the plight of North Carolina wildlife.
Goals of the NCWAS
1. To form a network of NC wildlife artists and collectors. 2. To promote NC wildlife and wildlife art via the web, advertising, shows, etc. 3. To work with other conservation groups in our state to educate the public on North Carolina wildlife. 4. To establish a scholarship for a North Carolina student pursuing a career in conservation.
We are very fortunate to live in a state with such diversity in wildlife, from the mountains to the coast. Unfortunately, we are losing more of North Carolina's forests and wetlands to development every day. Due, in part, to the loss of habitat, we are also seeing more animals killed by motorists and more reports of animal/human encounters.
For the past several years, I have enjoyed studying and painting the wildlife of our state, but I fear for its future. Our grandchildren may only see North Carolina's wildlife in our art or a zoo, rather than in its natural environment. I strongly feel it is time for us, as artists, to do what we can to educate the public and protect one of our most valuable resources.
Unfortunately, this is a job that cannot be done by one person, so I am asking for your help to get this project off the ground. If you are interested in helping with this very important project, please fill out the attached form and mail to:
